Local Nurseries and Seed Collection
The Milton Rocks project sources native tubestock from four local nurseries to ensure diversity and availability of species for the range of projects delivered within the catchment area. Working with local farmers the Network has supported the collection of local seed by landholders which is then grown locally at either at the Milkwood Farm or Milton Landcare Nursery. Our Network members are encouraged to contact our Project Officer, Julie Holstegge and invite her over to collect seed from species which are seeding throughout the year or collect and drop off seed themselves. A number of key species have been identified on local farms and our members are encourage to monitor these `seed' trees for us which has worked extremely well since 2012.
If you are interested in sourcing local tubestock or providing seed for our revegetation projects please contact the local nurseries below.

Milkwood Farm Nursery (Croobyar Road)
In 2012, Project Officer Julie Holstegge began to collect seed from hard to source species while working on local projects. Seed trees were identified on farms and along Croobyar Creek and are monitored throughout the year in partnership with our local members. The Small Farms Network helped Julie set up a small productive nursery on her farm which is supported by experienced NRM volunteers who also help revegetate her creek most Wednesdays in exchange for delicious cakes and coffee.
